Happy New Week!!
'We went apple picking this morning! It was a lot more fun than I expected! Some of the apples were really big!!! Not sure if we will even eat them all but it was fun! I really don't have time to talk this week and the library is closed next monday... so you won't hear from me until maybe next tuesday... But conference was the best!!!! The church is true!!! Love you all! Love, Elder Richins'

Pure quartz crystal and the flower of life!
'This last week was an adventure... Our GPS died.. so we tried to get around without one and that was impossible... so we got a new one haha it is a lot easier now! We met this guy named John, he was a big skater so I got excited, thought he might skate with me but I guess he crashed recently and busted his knee real bad, so I think he is done for good. Anyway, He stroked his beard really creepily the whole time we shared the Restoration. By the time we finished he said he would read it and pray. He said he already got answers to prayers about other things. And he knows that Joseph Smith was a prophet but also believes there are lots of prophets everywhere walking around... sooo, but he turned out to be really cool! Other than the fact he doesn't speak Spanish so we can't teach him. But after giving him a Book of Mormon he felt so loved that he brought us a gift. A crystal with a drawing... he said if we kept it with us it would protect us. He was very hippie. His son prayed the bed bugs would go away and he woke up with an urge to go destroy all the bedbugs with natural herbs! And it worked so that is cool I guess haha! :) Love that guy. A bit strange but awesome! also, that baptism I said was going to happen a while ago, well her mom died the week of the baptism so she left for the D.R. that day and came back 2 weeks ago, So on Saturday I baptized her!! It was such a neat experience. Even though there were some difficulties with water level in the font... we worked it out. We were both short haha;) Coolest thing... Oh and the other elders got in a car wreck so now we are driving them around everywhere until friday haha interesting adjustments going on in the mission right now. We also ran into some investigators at Wal-Mart that we didn't have contact with so we get to teach them again. Crazy week! Full of miracles and fun!!! Love you all, Elder Richins' Getting chased by a drunk man...
This week was a bit crazy... Saying goodbye to Elder Porter and him saying goodbye to all the members. We had a long week. I got to meet up with Elder Miller before he went home. So a little less than a year ago when Elder Miller, Elder Hall, and I were getting mission transferred from Lawrence we met up at this same apartment! now we meet up again but Elder Miller is going home and Elder Hall is my companion! So strange! So many memories of Lawrence came back! We did a lot of finding recently. We were walking down this street and we hear someone running. We look back and there is this guy screaming "Gentleman! I want to hear what you have to say!!" He told us how he had been drinking all day. I am surprised he was running. But we went back to his place and taught him the restoration. He was really surprised we spoke spanish and was impressed by our message. He told us he wanted to learn all about it so we are going to go back and teach him. He is really willing. He will do Anything to help him get rid of his word of wisdom problem. Love that guy. Prayers for Ivan. I know this message blesses so so so many lives. Just think about all the people that pray for missionaries and their families and friends... Wow everyone that gets the chance to be a missionary or even friends with a missionary. You are being flooded with prayers of sincere love. Hope you know that. I love you all and hope all is well. Keep up the great work. Don't forget your example is everything! Love, Elder Richins Good bye Elder Porter :'(
Well, That week flew by. Not sure how that happened but Elder Porter is going to Providence! I am getting Elder Hall! I served with Elder Hall in the New Hampshire mission! Super crazy! He will most likely be my last companion. Poor guy haha. He hasn't been a zone leader before so he gets me to train him. Not sure how well that will work out haha. We had two 6 hour meetings this week that drained me so much! I was so full of the spirit but sooo tired physically! We learned a lot! We had some new neighbors move in from Ecuador. It would be strange if we started teaching them... But who knows. The leaves randomly started changing and it made my stomach sick thinking it is already that time of year... It is like I have been sliding down a dry water slide and somebody finally turned on the water and I started flying!!!! So crazy. I miss you all. Keep on keeping on! Conference is coming. Love, Elder Richins oh boy... I got joy.
We went to the Temple yesterday, and all libraries were closed, so sorry I didn't email. Well this is the last week of the Transfer, I am most likely staying here but getting a new companion! We have a bunch of meetings this week and changes are happening in missionary work all over the place! I was so happy to go to the temple. Last time I went was Christmas!!! So Yesterday was super good! I had a lot of questions answered and I am ready to get back to work! Things are going to get really good really soon! Felix and Maylie the Haitian family came to church! It was strange though because two of the wards were in a camp so they didn't show up. There was nobody there!!! Not much has changed other than we went to Chick-Fil-A and the cashier was dating a mormon so he gave us free shakes hahaha Love you lots, Elder Richins Because he looks like a Young Jesus.
'Wow what a week. So the Spanish Sisters are baptizing their investigator this Saturday. When we were in church she turned to me and asked me if I could baptize her. The Sisters told me that she was deciding between me and some other guy but finally chose me because she said I look like a young Jesus! haha it was pretty funny! Our Haitian family Felix, Marie, Maylie, and Yvenson came to church! They are so cool! They didn't have any furniture in their house, so when the branch found out... well let us just say their house is now full of everything they need!!! Zone P-day was pretty fun! We played Battleship with a volleyball net and some water balloons! Then we played giant volleyball with a beach ball. We played capture the flag and some other games... I am super tired now! Our zone is awesome! I have been studying a lot on forgiveness and mercy, it has really helped me understand the nature of God and Jesus Christ. I know that he doesn't ever ask us to do anything alone! All he asks is that we do our part and he is willing to carry us practically the whole way. As we rely on him he will fill our lives with miracles and all we need to be happy and at peace. I love this gospel so much! I am so grateful to be out here meeting so many great people. Serving has definitely changed who I am. Love you, Elder Richins' hellllooooooooo
'Looks like I have 5 minutes to write this email... soooo this week a member from our branch went to Utah and saw my family!! Super nice of him to stop by! And then we street contacted a lady that actually works at the place we do service for every week! So now we are teaching her too! Then we met a guy named Andrew... When we came back to his house to teach him a few days after meeting him. It turns out him and his friends are really into drugs... So that was an interesting visit. They had all seen "visions" So they had a lot to talk about when we started reading the Book of Mormon haha. Silly Andrew. ummm that is about all I can write in 5 minutes sadly I am slow at typing. I love you all. The gospel is true! Jesus Christ is my Savior! Love, Elder Richins!' Oh boyyyy
'News News News... I got a calling! haha I am the Elders Quorum 2nd Counselor... so that is different! My first calling on my mission. We had a bunch of meetings last week... We had MLC and then Interviews and then we gave two trainings on Vision at District meeting... I am so tired!! We had a crazzzy experience where we went on a hunt for our investigators wife. she was in the hospital and he needed us to translate but they kept moving her from hospital to hospital... We finally found her. She is well and we will be back to teaching her later this week!! yay! Not much else to say really... We went on a hike for Sister Campbells birthday today. To Purgatory Chasm. It was fun! Anyway... Yeah Keep on keeping on! Love, Elder Richins' "My shoe came untied. and this is a little what the whole hike looked like." helloooo 'I always procrastinate this email and then run out of time... so sorry. ummm This week was great. We taught soooo many people we are having an appointment every 30 minutes for the past couple of weeks. I am so exhausted! We teach someone then end up teaching there neighbors and there family etc. etc. I am seeing so many miracles... wow. anyway. I love you all and the gospel is true! I have less than 20 more emails back home before my time is up... pretty crazy!! Love you all! -Elder Richins' I completely filled up my journal!
