Happy 4th of JULY!!
'Wow 4th of July was just like last year but we didn't get fireworks thrown at us this year!!! Everyone was out of town and didn't want to talk but I enjoyed it so much! We found the trick for any holiday. You just walk into someones backyard while they are barbecuing and they offer you food!!! wahoo!! that happend 3 times:) We started teaching a Buddhist from Seattle. Not sure if she will let us come back though. All those people I talked about last week we gave to the English missionaries to teach.
We had some fun with the Framingham District. And we recently finally figured out how to send voicemails so we are doing that every Sunday for the zone haha my voice is so weird recorded!
Anyway. Super pumped for JULY!!! So many good things going on! We didn't get to see fireworks... I saw like 2 maybe. I just sat and listened to them in the apartment laying on the floor trying to imagine them.
Well... I have pictures. I am loving it here

No Comfort In The Growth Zone
'Crazy good week!!! I have learned so much! So there are a bunch of pest control salesman Return missionaries here from Utah and they have been going on splits with us! They are so good! Especially with their sales experience. We saw so many miracles.
We found a lady that said she was Athiest but we felt we should keep trying anyway so we kept asking questions and it turns out she lost her faith in God when her Grandfather died a long time ago... It was really sad and she started crying and we ended up teaching her a little bit and she went from Athiest to wanting to get baptized and get her faith back. She had a lot of questions we told her we had the answer to. We are meeting back with her in a week.
Another group of people told us no... we kept talking and they told us "you are wasting your time talking to us we won't change." we replied "We have some time to waste." Then the Spirit took over and 20 minutes later they were asking question after question and we got a return appointment for Thursday.
It just goes to show more people are prepared than you think. Most the people that are ready for the Gospel just don't know it and when looking for the elect it just takes a little persistence and love and if they are willing they will feel the love of God and will start to make a change. I love this Gospel and I know that it is true. If we give it our all to show God we are willing to do what he asks, he will bless us and he will fulfill all of his promises because he can not and will not lie. I am so grateful to be a missionary and have so many great influences in my life.
There is No growth in the Comfort zone, and no Comfort in the growth zone. Get out there and do your best and then a little more. Step by step God will help you be molded into your best self!
We have MLC this week and the Boston West Zone is doing a fantastic job! So excited for this month it is going to be great!
I love you all and hope you all have an awesome 4th of July!

Welcome to Worcester, 2nd Largest City in Massachusetts.
'Wow, This week was crazy. I got all packed up and drove all over the place but eventually waited at the mission home for my new companion. My first time Ever stepping foot into the mission home, It was super weird and I felt out of place being with all the missionaries that were going home. Things got really delayed so I even ended up having dinner with all the departing missionaries. President and Sister Miller are so loving! Then I met my companion and we went straight to work found a new family to teach and then I got to go to bed!! Slowly unpacked what I needed. We got the apartment super duper clean it is such a nice apartment!!! So nice! it is on the third floor of a complex so I get to sit by the window and enjoy seeing the top of trees.
On Saturday we got to go with our recent convert of 2 weeks to the Boston Temple. It was her first time and it was such an amazing experience! She said "Los cielos tiene que estar fiestando ahora!" There must be a party going on in heaven right now! because of all the baptisms she got to do! it was Awesome!!!!!
So much going on here I Love it! Spanish people are my favorite! My first sunday was especially a good experience. Being zone Leader isn't much different than District Leader to be honest... A little less training, a few more meetings and I get to see President Miller more often:)
So far so good!! Love you all! sorry for so many pictures!!
Love, Elder Ricodentro'
Going back to Spanish!
'We got transfer texts and I thought I would stay another here in Arlington as District Leader... But I am getting sent to Worcester Spanish as Zone Leader! My new companions name is Elder Porter, I will meet him on Wednesday. I know nothing about him. Funny part of it all is that Elder Stephens is going back to Lawrence!
Sorry I didn't send an email last week our time was cut short. But my family sent me a very much needed package on Saturday! I now look forward to sleeping:) Thank you for the new sheets. And everything else was so awesome. I was very excited! Thank you Austin for your addition. The only thing to show I am from Utah is the Jazz towel you sent me:)
Well... Teaching in English has been a blast but I can't wait to go back to teaching what I am used to. It has been good leading this District. There are so many good missionaries here! I will miss being so close to Boston. We actually took a couple wrong turns on our way to District Meeting and ended up driving right by Fen way Park! So that was awesome. Didn't get any good pictures because we weren't exactly supposed to be there. Anyway, I realized that I have barely taken any pictures with Elder Clarke so we took some yesterday.
Still after 6 weeks in an English area I don't know how to contact White People... Someone answered the door while we were tracting and said she was a born again Jew... So She wasn't interested, So I asked if she was interested in learning about Family History. I guess with the whole descendant Jew thing she thought I was trying to prove she wasn't a Jew... So we got a hard door slam that time. It is a lot harder in English than I would have guessed. Spanish people are so open to things it is crazy.
There was a member of our ward who just gave a farewell talk! It reminded me so much of my farewell... It made me super sad and way happy as well...
Anyway.. that was our week not much going on. I am not good at emailing this week I am sorry but I have pictures! And I will send more next week!
Love you all so so much! :)

6 Months left!
'So far so good! This week we biked and then we biked some more! You could say we are pro cyclists now. We even biked in the pouring rain! But lucky for us the members still let us come in and sit down to share a message. We have been super busy lately. We picked up a few new investigators and now we are teaching someone from Peru! But she is fluent in English so I haven't been able to practice my Spanish there yet. I moved my bed from the top bunk to the bottom and I now use the top one as a little study loft. It keeps me awake and warm being up so high near the ceiling. We also recently bought nice fancy soaps! I got a kelp and sea salt one and now a charcoal one so I always smell really good in the mornings!!
Turns out I don't have any green thumb anymore I accidentally killed a cactus again. I am so bad at this. I am going to go pick up an air plant from a members flower shop soon so I can try to keep something alive!
We are teaching a man named Matt.. he is super smart and if we don't have the Spirit with us in the lessons they could go wrong! So the last couple lessons have gone so well!! He has so many questions though. One thing I know is you don't have to be perfect to serve God or keep the commandments. You don't have to know or understand everything either. That is the whole part of walking in faith is not knowing everything about what you are doing but you do know you are doing it because you love God and want to do what is right. We all have a goal to be more like him and eventually become like him and live with him some day. I know each step we take in this direction is important in the eyes of God. Even the little seemingly unimportant things in our daily lives like reading verses from the scriptures or small compliments made to those around you. Every good thing comes of God and brings us closer to Him. I challenge you all to let your light shine a little brighter. Don't be afraid to be you and show your example with love in your heart and a smile on your face. That is what makes this world a little brighter. Keep on keeping on and you will find the strength to look adversity in the eye with courage, hope and faith.
Love you all!
trying to gain weight. Eating a TON!'
'Wow so sorry I couldn't email yesterday none of the libraries were open due to Memorial Day.
So only crazy thing that happened is we went on a really really long bike ride trying to find someone's house but we got really lost so I am a little sore from that but everything is good here.
I am on exchanges right now with the Chinese Elders! So I am learning Chinese my name is now Chen Zhang Lao! We had an awesome Japanese meal the other day and got to teach someone who just moved here from Japan a month ago. So I have taught all sorts of people now hahaha. Pretty crazy.
I got to ride on the trains in Boston and we are taking the buses a lot lately. We took a drive through Harvard square and got to see the big league college students live their crazy lives haha.
Sorry I don't have time to write. I miss and love you all! Also shout out to my awesome cousin for sending me the best package ever!
Church is true!
Love, Elder Richins
so sorry don't know how to put pictures on this computer.'
'okay... so mission boundaries were redrawn so we had to make room for a bunch of missionaries that were coming down because we are losing a stake to the New Hampshire mission. So they are splitting our area so now we are in one ward instead of three. and now 3 hours of church unlike yesterday being at the church for 11 hours straight... anyway... so now we have to ride bikes and walk because we share a car.
Last week was so crazy... random funeral popped up. Clayton Christensen was there, along with Elder Bennett the area seventy. And 2 large buses full of Harvard University students... So as you could imagine since we have Yale and Harvard really close by we are teaching some smart people. Which makes everything hard because they think too much so they don't understand the simple things. One of our investigators Matt has two masters one in Theology and another in Social work... so he thinks a lot too.
Elder Clarke got sick on saturday night and sunday he was still sick but we went to church anyway. It was a strange week. But now we get to ride cool road bikes just like everyone else outside. We live right next to a bike path and will be using buses and stuff now. pretty exciting!
I thought it would be cool since we have bunkbeds for each of us but only two mattresses to put my bed on top but now that it is warm outside I am a little easy bake oven up there every night!! I like being warm but not hot!!
Well, we have set high goals to go teach the gospel this week... and we are expecting miracles, so pray for me and I will pray for you. I love you all thank you for all you do.
Keep on keeping on, Love, Elder Richins
Thought I had more pictures.... Guess not, sorry.'
'Well, I made it to my new area, there was no food when I got here so we made do with what we had and experimented with some spices and some ramen and macaroni... It was alright. Then it was mothers day!!! We went to 9 hours of church because we cover 3 wards. But after we got an amazing Dinner!!! Steak! I haven't had steak in a year and a half! It was so good!!!!!!!!! I have missed it but it made my stomach do funny things. Then I got to see my family!!! It was so great to see all the people I love!
My new companion is Elder Clarke, He is a great guy. He has been out for 4 months and is a hard worker! He is fun! Our area is small and very english and rich, but I am not sure I will be here for long. I am hoping to go back spanish soon!
Not much to say this week, time is flying by! Oh we found the book of mormon in Braile... it is in 8 large binders hahahaha so sad!
Anyway. Thank you all for all your support and love, I love you all!
Keep on keeping on,
Love, Elder Richins.'
NEW MAILING ADDRESS:
Elder Tyler Lawrence Richins
3 Edith St
Arlington, MA 02474
'So I am getting transferred to Belmont/Arlington... English, but I will find some spanish people. I am gonna be district leader for a 4 elder district kinda sad but I will have fun! I am looking forward to it. Our church building is two stories and it is right across from the Boston Temple. There are a ton of rich mormon famous people there too like the writer, Clayton Christensen... pretty cool! We go to 9 hours of church on sundays because we cover 3 wards.... hahaha pretty different than what I am used to!! My new companion is Elder Clarke. He has been out for like 5 months. I haven't met him yet but I am sure we will get along just fine. I only have 7 months left!!!!
So we have a new rule that we cannot use the computers at the church so right now we are at a library and it only gives us like a half hour... so that is real sad. So I will have just enough time to write this email, reply to a few and that is it... So from now on until something changes I won't be writing individually anymore. sorry about that. Part of being a missionary. So this transfer we found 15 new investigators!!! We led our whole zone! We worked so hard I am happy with how the transfer went and am so excited for my new area. But so sad to leave the people here. They are my family! They have taken such good care of me and I will have to come back soon.
I took some pictures... We have been playing lava tag at the park every morning then played it at the abandoned mansion... so I have pictures of that haha I will have to cut this email short to have time to add them in.
So I love you all!
Keep on keeping on!
Love, Elder Richins'
Where am I going?
'This is the last week of the transfer, make your guesses!!!! This week has been a little rough but we have met our goals for finding investigators, we are leading the zone!!! Hard work and faith to find brings miracles. We found 8 potential investigators and when we came back they all didn't want us to talk to them anymore it was super sad but the work goes on.
Our district has 3 baptisms set up for this Saturday! I am excited to interview them! There is good work going on here!
Not much is new here. I am feeling better now from the allergies and my cold. good thing this is the last allergy season of my mission!!! 7 MONTHS LEFT!!! 6 months in this area already! Feels like I just got here!
So now we have no more zone conferences!? pretty crazy... but since the mission transfer none of the changes have been very crazy to me haha It is cool how I am so okay with change now!
Anyway, not much to say this week, we went on 2 exchanges and are going on exchanges with the zone leaders tonight so that will be fun! Missionary sleepovers!!
It is fun to see so many people come out of there houses to enjoy the sun! sadly this week is going to be cloudy here but summer is coming! Perfect time to share the gospel and spend time with the ones you love.
A ton of people have been asking us lately our opinion on what is going on with the world right now with the news and the rumors of wars and all that. They are so surprised at how calm we are with the whole situation. But we know that if we are in the right path we have nothing to fear! Also they don't seem to understand why we don't have iPhones and why we don't watch the news... haha I am glad we don't. Even though we hear EVERYTHING through the grapevine.
Moroni 8:16 "Wo be unto them that shall pervert the ways of the Lord after this manner, for they shall perish except they repent. Behold, I speak with boldness, having authority from God; and I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear."
I know God has a perfect plan for us, if we trust him we will not be afraid. Love you all, stay strong! Keep on keeping on!
Con Amor, Elder Richins
sorry for the lack of pictures... I haven't been feeling it lately'
