Tyler is doing well in the Mexico MTC.
'Hola! Next time you get an email from me it will be my last time in Mexico! It is so great here and time is flying by!! One of the sisters got pooped on by a bird but thats the craziest thing that happened. Every week we get fired up by a General Authority and usually President Holland gets the job done. But It is so nice. We constantly have the spirit with us and we are striving to perfect our morning shower schedules so we can be on time to thing. I sang in the MTC choir this week and it was a truly amazing experience! Everyday is pretty much the same but it does not get boring. We are learning so much and we are all improving in different ways! I really dont have a lot to say right now other than Thank you guys so so so much for the support and Everybody that has sent me those email letters thank you thank you thank you! I really enjoy them. It is like christmas everytime! You guys are the best! And if I didnt email you back I am very sorry! I will try super super hard to do better next time! Keep an eye out for my cousin Austin Richmond! He is the bomb and this is just a shout out because you are doing great things!! Plus take care of my family and keep my dog healthy. oh and if you want to borrow something from my house... you cant so i am sorry but you can leave a note on my chalkboard wall;) I love all you guys so much and I am so blessed to have so much support and love coming my way from home. Keep my name alive. I am learning so many good habits and It is really exciting to see how much things are changing back at home. Keep me updated and I will do the same for you! Until next week!!! Oh and here is a picture of me emailing you right now. And the Latinos that left us the other week. Con Amor, Elder Richins Alma 26:12'

Tyler's 3rd week in the Mexico MTC.
So I still have no letters from you guys. It either takes a super long time or they got lost somewhere... Soooo This is important. If you want to send me something to read so I can remember you, send an email to"[email protected] "and put My Full Name in the subject and they will print it out here and give it to me as a letter, usually a day after you send it!!!! please send me tons because I miss you all and only the Sister missionaries get letters and it is sad.. So I am sorry that I didnt email you all yesterday. They moved my P-day to thursday only for this week so we could go to the temple. It was a little difficult doing everything in spanish but I made it through and the spirit was there the whole time. It is a very beautiful temple. But from now on my P-days should be wednesdays. So don´t feel bad that you didn´t get an email they told us on monday so we couldn´t let anyone know. All the Latinos left. We got 2 new ones in our house but they talk faster and one is a Dominican so he has a different accent that noone can understand. Everyone here is so nice and I am getting a slight tan. I got sunburned the other day and my skin is so dry but it is worth every minute!!! I have tons of lotion so it is all good. I finally picked up something from the store and can send pictures now so I will send those. I am sorry if you get annoyed by my emails but I really do not get annoyed by yours so send me lots I want to hear from everyone and dont be afraid to make them super long. It gives me stories to tell my companions and things to think about during the week. Also send me pictures!!!! I want some from home. All the other missionaries brought photo albums and I should have done the same! They always ask about my friends and family but I can´t show them anything unless you guys send me pictures so send em por favor! love you all. We got to watch a couple talks from provo in a special broadcast and tears were shed when we got to watch a talk by David A. Bednar about The Character of Christ. You all should go look for that talk I dont know what it was called but it for sure changed my life and I have no idea why I hadnt seen it before. I wish I could explain how much I have felt the spirit and changed here in the MTC. I have already read the Book of Mormon all the way through since I got here and I am working through Second Nephi right now in Spanish and I dont know how to explain my feelings about everything. All I can say is the Gift of tongues is real and I know I am being watched over and blessed. For all of those out there praying for missionaries keep it up. It works! Prayer is 200000% real and I am constantly praying for each and every one of you. I miss you all so much I am doing really good but I burned my tongue on some mexican hot chocolate and my shower has no hot water or water pressure so that is the worst of my problems here in mexico so if you are worried about me, don´t be worried I am so so safe and I am having no problems other than missing you all!!! I will talk to you guys next week. Hope to get a lot of those letters. Love always, Elder Richins Tyler's latest email from Mexico MTC
'Hey Everyone!!! I am so happy to have heard from all you back at home! I hope everything is going good!!! My p days are every wednesday and I leave to New Hampshire on the 8th of February! and if you want to send me snail mail it takes about 2 weeks to get here so send a tons and send them quick because I haven't got letters yet. I am constantly learning so much about the Gospel. I have 2 scriptures memorized in spanish and I am bad at memorizing things so I am proud of myself. I also memorized the missionary objective which is important. The investigator I was talking about was a volunteer and wasnt real so dont be too proud of me. We are just practicing. Every single Lesson we teach is like a battle. It is stressful but I am learning to teach with the spirit as my third companion and it makes things so much easier. The gift of tongues is real!!! On sunday I gave the closing prayer in sacrament meeting in spanish and I said things I didnt think I knew how to say. I just went up with faith and a prayer in my heart and I am feeling the spirit so much!!! Also I got really sick last week and was throwing up a lot, and I had massive headaches. It was right before I was going to teach a lesson. I got some medicine from the doctor and only took one of the pills but then my companions offered to give me a blessing. They gave me a strong simple blessing right before i was going to go in and teach and right as the prayer finished I was overcome by the feeling of the spirit and my sickness left me. We taught a great lesson and I am so grateful that my companions were worthy to give me that blessing. I am so blessed and I miss you all so much. I am getting really good at soccer and am getting so many Latino friends. They teach me spanish and I teach them english! We have had a couple amazing devotionals and I am learning to understand the spanish speakers so I am feeling the spirit more and more and more. Seriously the longer you are out here the more you learn to love and you learn so much patience. I am honestly learning to love the scriptures so much!!!! My new nickname is Elder Microfiber I guess because I have microfiber towels. and They dont sell normal ones here!!! hahaha I am so happy here and would love to get more letters and emails from you all!!! I will talk to you next week!!!! Con amor, Elder Richins' It's been one week for Tyler in the Mexico MTC, Here is his latest email.
'Hey! I only get an hour on the computer so I am sorry if this is short. Yes I am very busy all the time. There is never a time where I am sitting doing nothing. They had us teach an investigator our second day, in Español of course it was a very humbling experience but I can fluently teach the Restoration in spanish now and I am learning so much. We taught the investigator 3 times so far and another time tonight. He is doing good and I am going to invite him to get baptized tonight. wish me luck. It is hot here but it actually rained the other night. New Years in Mexico is crazy and loud somehow I managed to still get some sleep. The first few days were so hard and so stressful but I am getting used to it here. My companions name is Elder McKenzie and he is shy but he is very very nice. I am 5´7¨ and weigh 113 last time I checked and Elder McKenzie is from Mississippi and he is the exact opposite of me. He is a big guy... was kinda hard practicing our baptism dips with him but I was able to do it. I hope I gained some weight, I am feeling much healthier. The food here is... Interesting and it takes some getting used to. But I get to eat a lot. I usually get about 8 hours of sleep so that is good. I miss you all at home and everything but I am very happy here and my district is really close, we are all friends. I made a good friend Elder Pugh and he is from Salt Lake. He is going to New York and sadly I am the only one going to New Hampshire, so it looks like I am going to have to fly alone outta here in 5 weeks. It is crazy time flies here and you are literally exhausted physically and mentally 100% of the time. But spiritually I have grown so much and I am full of the spirit 200% of the time. The MTC is so so very hard but i have learned to grow from my trials and after the first week it gets easier. We live off of Chokis, which are mexican chips ahoy. We get some from the tienda any chance we get. So some more pesos on my debit card for chokis would be a blessing. I love all of you guys and I expect some emails next week maybe one or two? I wish I had more time to spend talking to all of you but Exact Obedience is key if I want to survive here in the MTC. Constant companionship with the Holy Ghost gets me through everyday here. It isnt bad here but it is soooo hard so be prepared if you are going on a mission. I love you guys. Stay safe. Stay good. Ill talk to you guys next week and oh I got a haircut out here. Its not that bad. I will try to send pictures next week but I forgot my camera in my room which is all the way on the other side of the campus. lots of walking. Con Amor, Elder Richins' |
