Ayyeee i'm alive!
'I apologize for not telling everyone that I couldn't email on Monday.
We went on exchanges and had an amazing day full of miracles yesterday
and gave out a bunch of books and helped a couple people on the street
who were really struggling with life and needed comfort and direction
and purpose. It was a humbling day that I loved so much.
This morning, we went to the Temple!!! Whoo! It was good. It's a
beautiful temple. We went with the bishops recently returned
missionary son and we had a great spiritual time and wow... I missed
that. I went with Elder Summers our new district leader because we
were on exchanges. He's an awesome elder and now we are at the
library. It is kind of a different PDAY but it is still good.
Elder Wasilchen and I had a crazy first week together! Wow right when
he came in we were talking to every single person we past and picked
up 1-2 new investigators every day of the week. We were seeing
miracles and now have crazy stories as well because, well... We are
serving in Lawrence. But I love it here so much.
So we are getting our new mission president today... Around this time
actually president Stoker whom I love so much will be going home. And
we will be receiving president Blaire. It is strange being in the same
area the entire time but I have a feeling next transfer I am getting
shipped out because a new Spanish elder is coming in. We will see.
I started growing a little plant and it just sprouted it's going to be
like my mission life plant. We will see what it looks like in 18
months haha. Time flies by on the mission it is crazy. Just yesterday
it seems I got here. I miss you all at home but I know you are doing
We also found this man that wanted to change his life around because
he didn't like feeling depressed after drinking... So we had a lesson
with him. After that he told us he was coming to church haha! That was
awesome he is the funniest guy I've ever met. Not on purpose but he
just makes me smile he is awesome I can't wait to see him at church.
It is crazy seeing the potential of the people in the street. It is
truly something beautiful when you start seeing people as God would
see them. Or even just a glimpse.
I can promise that the Gospel can bless the lives of every single
person because everyone no matter who you are or where you came from
or what your story is... We are all sons and daughters of God and he
loves us all individually and has a plan for all of us. He loves you,
I love you. Do your best and follow the teachings of Jesus. You will
find your way and you will find happiness and love.
Love, your east coast missionary, Elder Richins'
'So I'm staying here in my baby area... But I'm receiving Elder Wasilchen and Elder Miller is going to the north part of Lawrence. Elder Wasilchen is so awesome!!
So IMPORTANT NEWS: there is a new address to send letters and packages
New Hampshire Manchester Mission105 Windsong Avenue
Manchester, new Hampshire 03104
That's the new one... Starting on Thursday.
Oh and guess what? Next week is my 6 month mark! Woah that went by quick. It's pretty crazy!
We had a couple miracles. My favorite this past week is when we where rushing to an appointment we were passing people up in the streets because we were going to be late. And we passed this lady sitting on her steps and I had this crazy feeling that she needed something. But we just passed her. We got ten feet away and it seemed out of desperation she called "Hey! Are you the Elders?" "Can I set up an appointment to meet with you?" Woah we couldn't believe our ears... We are going to meet with her today so I'll let you know next week.
The language is going great! I love speaking Spanish! The work is going great! The morning workouts could be better. Falling asleep in morning prayers isn't as much of a problem anymore... Kinda. There are so many strange and confused people on the streets here... But I love them all! Haha I love the mission!!!
Elder Miller was blowing bubbles and so we spent like our whole lunch hour trying to make a huge bubble and then filming ourselves eating the small bubbles... Wow that sounded super immature.
We are having so much fun. Our new zone phrase is YOMO. You only mission once. It was pretty funny to hear so that's our motivator to do things out of our comfort zone. We accidentally left the mission boundaries when a member drove us to Nashua... Oops. That was pretty funny though.
That's all I've got for you this week! Thank you all of you for being so awesome.
Remember to keep your thoughts on Christ. Remember why we are here on earth. This isn't our home. Constantly work to return to our heavenly home.
Love you all, Elder Richins'
A little Guatemala baseball I got:)
But sadly that's all I got.
Transfers are almost here.
'So Elder Pemberton is an awesome elder... But he is going home next
week. It's crazy and we are all going to miss him. He has taught me so
Well this past week went by crazy fast! We had some people trying to
convert us this morning while shopping haha it was pretty funny when
we handed them our card. People always think we are just preppy high
school kids or something. But we've seen miracles.
The gift of tongues is so real!!! We had this investigator who had to
go somewhere so we just decided to walk with him... He was speaking
crazy fast but I stopped thinking how to translate things and we had
this super deep conversation about God and our purpose on earth. He
knows the bible really well and I... Don't. But I wasn't even thinking
about the language and words came to my mind so fast and I was able to
speak well and at a pretty good speed... I surprised myself. It was
hard to talk because he likes to talk but it was a humbling experience
and it's something that I know is a privilege.
So many things have happened to make me realize how hard being a
Mormon is... Being a disciple of Christ is doing more than even being
a full time missionary, we have to give all we got, all we are to
Christ and this work. We had an amazing story shared with us about the
temple. I don't know what it is but I have the biggest desire to go to
the temple! More than anything... It is distracting sometimes but it
is a good motivator. I understand why missionaries get married so
fast! A mission puts all your priorities in order! Don't worry I'm not
ready for marriage... Yet.
Although most of you live in Utah and there doesn't seem to be much
missionary work to do... There always is! Home teaching is missionary
work just with members. Do your home teaching!!!!!! I didn't do it
when I was home but that doesn't matter! Do it!!!! They need you!
Missionary work in the ward is so important. If the ward members
aren't doing their job then the work cannot progress and neither can
the ward. Luckily we have a stronger ward but it can still be better!!
Think of all the spiritual experiences you have ever had and how much
the gospel has blessed your life...
...did you think of them??? Now think, lots of people don't have those
and don't know where to find them! Even the people that "aren't
interested" are interested... Obviously they are! They just don't know
what they don't have! We all agreed and were a part of this before we
were born. Help bring back Gods children! Your brethren!!!!
I love you all and hope you are all doing well! Keep up the good work
and remember that heaven is cheering you on!!

So I'm in a huge rush! We only get like 45 minutes to email this week
because we are going up to somewhere to have our zone PDAY I don't
know what we are doing but we had to bring a watermelon.
So my real mission grandpa just came into the chapel... He's returned
from his mission and brought his fiancé so that's cool.
We had some crazy miracles. We found this English guy smoking on his
porch and gave him a restoration pamphlet. We left and then like a
week later, we saw him outside a barbershop and he said when I saw you
two coming I got so happy. He said he read the whole pamphlet and he
sent parts of it to all of his friends. His friends said they loved it
and he said you'd never guess where I got this from! Haha it was
awesome! And then we gave him a Book of Mormon and he was so happy! He
said he would read it this weekend... So that was crazy.
We had so many more but I can't list them all right now. Not much
time. But we had an investigator at sacrament meeting and we are
teaching an entire family and they are awesome although most people
are leaving back to the Dominican Republic right now... So lots and
lots of people are leaving and I'll miss them.
We had some guy pull over and stare at us. He wasn't responding when
we said hello... Then he quoted a scripture from the bible about
antichrist then said "read it... Understand it" then he drove away...
That was pretty weird! We were also buying some mango juice in this
little shop because we wanted to ITL (Invite to learn) the cashier and
some guy came in and cornered us in the shop. He said, I know what you
guys do and I respect it. He then tried to hand us $40 and we refused
telling him we can't accept it. He told us to use it for our kids
college fund and shoved it into elder millers shirt pocket and ran
away... It was the weirdest thing. We then explained to the cashier
that we couldn't accept it and left it in the store... But it was the
strangest thing... We have had people randomly pull over and ask for a
Book of Mormon and others just crazily laugh at us... Wow it was a
crazy week. We also found a long lost less active member. That was
cool. Wow... Missions are awesome.
Thank you for all of your examples and love and support. Sorry this
week was so short!!!!
I'll try to put some Spanish in the next one.
Love, Elder Richins, your east coast missionary.'
